Be Still and Know....
The deeper journey to your True Self
IN THE KNOW
Richard Rohr, OFM
Center for Action and Contemplation
“People who’ve had any genuine spiritual experience always know that they don’t know. They are utterly humbled before mystery. They are in awe before the abyss of it all, in wonder at eternity and depth, and a Love, which is incomprehensible to the mind.”
American psychologist, author,
and proponent of Buddhist meditation
Author & Speaker, Interspirituality,
Loss & Transformation,
“There is a secret place. A radiant sanctuary. As real as your own kitchen. More real than that. Constructed of the purest elements. Overflowing with the ten thousand beautiful things. Worlds within worlds. Forests, rivers. Velvet coverlets thrown over featherbeds, fountains bubbling beneath a canopy of stars. Bountiful forests, universal libraries. A wine cellar offering an intoxication so sweet you will never be sober again. A clarity so complete you will never again forget. This magnificent refuge is inside you. Enter. Shatter the darkness that shrouds the doorway… Believe the incredible truth that the Beloved has chosen for his dwelling place the core of your own being because that is the single most beautiful place in all of creation.”
Ricky Gregerson, as a graduate of the Franciscan Spiritual Center in Milwaukie, OR., received her training and certification as a Spiritual Director. She is also a commissioned, Centering Prayer Presenter for Contemplative Outreach, LTD, and a Veriditas Labyrinth Facilitator. Ricky is passionate about ending modern day slavery and supports "In Our Back Yard", a non-profit organization against human trafficking.
She also supports her local food bank and Bethlehem Inn, homeless shelter. Her own path is through the wisdom tradition of Christianity. She is inclusive, non-dualistic, and honors other faith traditions beyond her own. In her spare time, Ricky enjoys cooking, art classes, yoga, walking, hiking and cross-country skiing. But what brings her peace and joy beyond the "doing", is her relationship to all of creation. She is mesmerized by the mirrored pond, melts in the presence of puppy cuteness, and loves the heart of a friend, willing to risk being vulnerable. What does Ricky think would make the world a better place? Loving kindness and more laughter!
It is no mistake that my home page has a brilliantly colored butterfly. The butterfly is symbolic of the spiritual journey. As a part of the metamorphosis process the caterpillar leaves everything it has ever known and experiences darkness and pain as it feels like it’s facing death in the cocoon. Unbeknownst to the caterpillar, this place of desolation is where the Creator brings forth the transformation. Yet, the process cannot be rushed. The caterpillar must be held, nurtured, and allow growth to take place. Then, one day, it happens! With new possibilities and a whole new way of living, the magnificent butterfly takes flight…..able to soar above the twig it once inhabited, over the seas, and to the ends of the earth, going beyond what it believed possible to make the impossible a reality.*
Made to soar....
It is the butterfly story of
transformation that has inspired my "work" in contemplative spirituality. Through the Christian Contemplative Tradition and experiential faith, I have learned that the journey of great love and great suffering, are the two normal and primary paths of transformation into God and ultimately, Divine Love. I have had the honor of studying and receiving spiritual direction under some of today's best spiritual guides and theologians. Now it is my heart's desire to pass on this beautiful gift of spiritual
companionship to others in search of union with the Divine. I offer spiritual direction (companioning) as a facilitator in groups, in personal relationships, with clients, and in the world. Whether you are struggling, stuck, wondering where God is, or just need a place to "be" with the questions, it is my desire to help guide you on your journey. Whether you are looking for a prayer community or a one-on-one Spiritual Companion, I'm here to help you take the first step. You truly are enough! Together, we can discover the Peace your soul desires. All it takes is a "yes"!
I believe all of us act out whatever is inside of us. Whatever we think, whatever we hear…that’s the behavior we’ll display. I became involved in Christianity in my late 30's. The path took many twists and turns from fundamental Christianity, necessary at that time in my life, to now landing on the contemplative path which feels like coming home. But what does all this mean? It means I try to live my life doing what Jesus did; trying to make the world a better place. God is love and God’s love is toward EVERYONE, it is inclusive. I believe God is LOVE, God is RELATIONSHIP as shown through the Trinity and that God’s desire is to have an intimate relationship with each of us. I continue to learn from different faith traditions and find that at the higher level of consciousness we have more in common than what separates us. And oh, by the way, I will never impose my beliefs on you.
